How To Make Heavenly White Snack Cake

Step 1: Prep the Pan and Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch square baking pan with butter and dust lightly with flour, or coat it with baking spray.

Step 2: Cream the Butter
In a large mixing bowl, beat 1/2 cup softened butter on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 3–4 minutes.

Step 3: Add the Sugar
Gradually mix in 1 cup granulated sugar, beating until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.

Step 4: Combine Milk and Extracts
In a small bowl or measuring cup, stir together 1/2 cup whole milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (if using).

Step 5: Sift the Dry Ingredients
Sift together 1 1/2 cups cake flour and 2 teaspoons baking powder to remove any lumps and aerate the flour.

Step 6: Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients
Alternately add the flour mixture and milk mixture to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Beat on low speed just until combined after each addition—do not overmix.

Step 7: Whip the Egg Whites
In a separate clean bowl, beat 4 large egg whites on medium speed until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter until fully incorporated for a light, airy texture.

Step 8: Bake
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35–38 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 9: Cool and Serve
Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove it and allow it to cool completely. Frost with white icing or enjoy plain for a simple, elegant treat.
