Slow Cooker Church Supper Spaghetti
Ingredients:
- Ground beef – 2 pounds
- Onion, chopped – 1 large
- Garlic, minced – 4 cloves
- Crushed tomatoes – 2 (28-ounce) cans
- Tomato sauce – 1 (15-ounce) can
- Tomato paste – 1 (6-ounce) can
- Red wine (optional) – 1/2 cup
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon
- Dried basil – 2 teaspoons
- Dried oregano – 2 teaspoons
- Dried parsley – 1 teaspoon
- Crushed red pepper flakes – 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt and pepper – to taste
- Spaghetti – 1 pound
Instructions
Step 1: Brown the Meat and Aromatics
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain off any excess fat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
Step 2: Combine in the Slow Cooker
Transfer the beef mixture to your slow cooker. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, red wine (if using), sugar, basil, oregano, parsley, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Step 3: Slow Cook the Sauce
Mix everything well. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
Step 4: Cook the Spaghetti
About 20–30 minutes before serving, cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and add the pasta to the slow cooker, tossing gently so the sauce coats it evenly.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
Let the spaghetti sit in the slow cooker for another 10 minutes to soak up the flavors. Serve hot and enjoy!
